Women Armed Series

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,” Ephesians 6:10-17

The Belt of Truth

Women putting on the whole armor of God should be an everyday requirement for the daily challenges we face. We are wives, mothers, employees, employers, sisters, and friends. We cannot simply do something for honor, but for “devotion to a purpose.”, (Velde, 2000). To accomplish our purpose, we must realize that the world and the devil will do whatever they can to slow us down and eventually stop us completely. Thus, we put on the armor of God. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” says the Bible in Ephesians 6:10. Stand firm ladies! So that we do not lose balance when challenges are thrown at us. First, put on the belt of truth that guards your womanhood. You are a woman of God, do not allow this world to fill you with lies about your identity. Pursue the truth in your endeavors and cling to the Scriptures for there is no Word truer than those of the Lord. Plaster your surroundings with Scripture on post it notes so that you may remember it in the midst of a spiritual battle.

The Breastplate of Righteousness

Righteousness comes in two forms. One form being the righteousness Christ gives us when we accept Him into our heart. The second form being “the continuous righteousness that comes as a response to God’s gift.” (Motl). Did you catch that? The “continuous righteousness” that is constantly flowing within us due to the Holy Spirit. How awesome is our God? That should help give us some pep in our steps knowing that God is continually helping us throughout the day. We need only call on Him and He will supply all we need. Okay, now that we understand righteousness, we will move onto the breastplate. The breastplate guards our hearts, as does righteousness. They both protect us from the sin that tries to ensnare us in our daily lives. To use the breastplate, we must listen and follow God’s instructions. Though sometimes obedience can feel like an impossible task, it is our obedience to God that protects us from the enemy. Remember, we all struggle with obedience, never feel alone in that. The enemy will view us as targets when we disobey God. If you need someone to pray for you there is a contact form on this site. Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” We are in this battle together ladies!
